Application Tips

SPF Stacking

The trick to actually wearing enough SPF: don't apply it all at once. Stack it in thin layers so the full dose feels light instead of like a lot. Here's how:

  • Dispense 2 finger lengths (at least ¼ tsp) for face and neck
  • Apply it in 2-4 even layers, one right after the other, until you’ve used the full amount

IS CLOUDWEAR A MINERAL OR CHEMICAL SUNSCREEN?

Cloudwear is a hybrid, which means it uses 10.15% non-nano zinc oxide, a mineral filter, alongside 7.5% octinoxate, a second UV filter. Our proprietary zinc oxide dispersion does the heavy lifting on broad-spectrum protection and wears sheer. The octinoxate adds a second layer of UV protection and lets the whole formula wear like a skincare step instead of a sunscreen.

Together you get SPF 30, PA+++, in a cushion-soft texture with a satin finish. And because it's hydrating enough to replace your moisturizer, you get a soft subtle glow that comes with skin that's actually hydrated.

IS SPF 30 ENOUGH PROTECTION? 

Yes. Dermatologists recommend at least SPF 30 for everyday protection. The difference between SPF 30 and SPF 50 is 97% vs 98% UVB protection, but under-application dramatically reduces effective SPF protection. What matters far more is whether you apply enough, and whether you wear it every single day. Studies show that daily sunscreen use, when applied properly, measurably decreases signs of aging compared to occasional use. The recommended amount is 2 finger lengths (at least ¼ tsp) for face and neck. Cloudwear was formulated to be worn daily at the recommended amount. 

IS CLOUDWEAR SAFE FOR SENSITIVE SKIN? 

Absolutely. Cloudwear was formulated to be fragrance-free and hypoallergenic. On a Human Repeat Insult Patch Test with 100 participants, the irritation index was 0.00 with no sensitization.

WILL CLOUDWEAR BREAK ME OUT?

Cloudwear is safe for acne-prone skin. In a 28-day study, 32 women with acne-prone, combination to oily skin used Cloudwear every day. A dermatologist counted comedones and acne lesions on their forehead, cheeks and chin before and after. There was no increase in either. The lab's conclusion: non-comedogenic and non-acnegenic. 

DOES CLOUDWEAR LEAVE A WHITE CAST? 

Cloudwear is a hybrid, so there's a mineral filter in it, and zinc oxide is white by nature. Ours is a proprietary dispersion, fine-milled and coated so it spreads evenly and wears sheer. In a 28-day in-home use study across Fitzpatrick skin types I through VI, 97% of participants agreed Cloudwear leaves no visible white cast. But we're never going to tell you that mineral sunscreen disappears completely. Depending on your skin tone, you may see a little. It layers really well under a skin tint, foundation, or concealer.

A fully chemical SPF is in the works. Cloudwear is the first sunscreen we've made, not the last.

Yes! That’s what we formulated it for. Cloudwear is your last skincare step, acting as your moisturizer and your SPF at the same time. The hydration comes from HydraSync Complex™, our proprietary emollient blend. In a clinical study, skin hydration measured 54.7% higher fifteen minutes after applying, and was still up 25.7% eight hours later.

    All the dew, none of the grease

    Sunscreen fanatic here and Vize checks so many boxes! It’s so moisturizing that I can literally skip my separate moisturizer, love a little two-fer situation. Even with generous application and reapplication, it doesn’t feel heavy or greasy. It gives my mature 46 year old skin a healthy dewy glow. Huge plus that it’s non-comedogenic and fragrance free…absolute musts for my sensitive, acne-prone skin. The third party SPF testing also gives me extra peace of mind that Vize takes sun protection seriously!

    Love it!

    I usually don’t like wearing mineral sunscreen because of the thick and heavy consistency, but vize is light and goes on so smoothly! It also gives me a subtle glow which is a bonus! I know I’m going to go through it so quickly. Love it so much!

    Like wearing nothing

    As someone who is in the sun a lot, I love this product. Usually sunscreen smells like a pina colada or makes you look like you just took a swim in a vat of grease. But cloudwear goes on so light, it almost feels more like a moisturizer!

    Amazing sunscreen!

    One thing I love about Vize is the way it can be applied under my foundation. The result is a soft glow. Another thing I love is that it is good for my skin. I’ve been using Vize for three weeks now and I love it!

    Love this sunscreen!

    I am very picky about my sunscreen and this one is perfect! It feels lightweight and clean and gives my skin a subtle glow. Great to layer under my tinted moisturizer or slather on before a run. It’s super gentle and soothing for my sensitive skin. And I especially love that it’s reasonably priced. My new daily go-to!
